Simple vegan scones that come together quickly. The key is not to overwork the dough.

Ingredients

  • 75 g margarine
  • 5 dl wheat flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 krm salt
  • 2 dl plain plant yogurt or plant milk

Instructions

  1. Mix: Rub margarine into flour, baking powder and salt with your fingertips until crumbly.

  2. Add liquid: Add yogurt or milk and knead briefly into a dough. Don’t overwork - this makes tough scones.

  3. Shape: Roll out dough 2-3 cm thick. Cut out rounds with a cutter.

  4. Bake: Place on baking sheet. Bake at 250°C for 10-15 minutes until golden on top.

Notes

Alternative shape: Flatten dough into a round cake, score into triangles (don’t cut through), and bake a few minutes longer. Break apart when serving.

Don’t overwork: The less you handle the dough, the lighter your scones.

Serving: Serve warm with jam and clotted cream (or plant-based alternative).
