Crispy air-fried chickpeas coated in chocolate - a high-protein snack that’s easy to make and surprisingly addictive.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (400 g) chickpeas, drained
  • 100 g dark chocolate
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Crisp chickpeas: Drain and pat dry chickpeas thoroughly. Air fry at 180°C for 15 minutes or until crispy. (Or roast in oven at 200°C for 25-30 minutes.)

  2. Melt chocolate: Melt chocolate with coconut oil in microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.

  3. Coat: In a bowl, combine crispy chickpeas, protein powder (if using), and melted chocolate. Mix until well coated.

  4. Set: Spread on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Refrigerate until set.

  5. Break: Break into pieces or clusters.

Notes

Without protein powder: Works fine without it - just use a bit more chocolate if needed.

Oven method: If no air fryer, roast at 200°C for 25-30 minutes, shaking pan halfway through.

Storage: Keep in fridge for best crunch.
